PM Modi Announces Vande Bharat Train Models
Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced three models of Vande Bharat trains: Vande Bharat sleeper, Vande Bharat chaircar, and Vande Bharat metro.
He also mentioned the BJP’s plan to expand Vande Bharat trains to every nook and cranny of India.
The Western Railway has been authorized to test faster Vande Bharat Express trains, aiming to reduce travel time between Mumbai and Ahmedabad. If successful, the faster trains could save passengers approximately 45 minutes on the Mumbai-Ahmedabad route.

Indian Railways officials have finished engineering works on the route and installed 792 km of safety barriers.

VANDE BHARAT SPEED UPGRADE
The 16-car Vande Bharat Express will undergo a trial run after being retrofitted to reach 160 kmph, potentially reducing journey times by 45-60 minutes between Mumbai and Ahmedabad.
EXPANSION PLANS
As of March 12, 2024, there are 51 Vande Bharat trains in service, with 10 new trains inaugurated on that day.
India aims to have 4,500 Vande Bharat trains by 2047.
